On Wednesday evening, March 29th a group of WOW members went to a dine-out event. There were about 20 members in attendance.
We were all seated at two long tables that were placed end to end, which allowed for relatively good conversation with the folks near you.
The wait staff did a good job of taking both our drink and meal orders. The food delivery was timely. It should be noted that the venue allowed separate checks which is a requirement for our groups.
The food was generally considered to be good. There were some comments about the price. However, to get an evening meal with a drink the prices were actually in the normal range.
At 11:30 Friday MORNING, March 10TH a dozen hungry WOW members entered Anthony’s Fish Grotto a long-time popular seafood eatery here in San Diego County.
We perused the menu and chatted while we ordered drinks.
Everybody wondered what could be holding up the other half of the group who RSVP’d and finally gave up on them and ordered meals. About the time our lunches started out of the kitchen, the stragglers appeared. A traffic accident on 8 west turned the freeway into a parking lot, but did not prevent our hungry WOW members from powering on to lunch.
The food was great the conversation spirited and laughter echoed throughout our area. We totally filled two long banquet tables.
As lunch was winding down a tablet was passed for those planning to attend the April SOCIAL LUNCHEON to sign up.
TROY’S GREEK RESTAURANT is the next destination. The date is April 14th at 11:00 am. I personally have never been there but I signed up and am looking forward to trying someplace new and chatting with fellow WOW members while being adventurous and trying something new and perhaps unusual.
It looked like everyone that was at Anthony’s signed up for TROY’S GREEK RESTAURANT luncheon. Hope to see you there.
Beverly,
Thank you for coordinating Cribbage get together, and it was nice meeting you and Carol
See you next Tuesday.
Alana
I was so anxious to join in on the annual picnic that WOW organized this past July 3rd. It was to be my first outing to meet members however, I did have a rough fall the day before injuring only my wrist badly.
I attended the picnic before heading to Urgent Care because if I went for medical treatment first, I would miss the picnic ? Call me crazy but I made the choice which was a good one. It help divert the pain to a degree as I learned how to play Mexican Train with some fun members.
WOW held their annual Luau on August 15th. By all measure it was a success. We had over 60 members in attendance. There was lots of visiting and dancing. The club realized a new gain financially. It was a real success.
We had a great time at the Holiday Picnic. Thirty-five or so of us gathered at Big Rock to share lunch and camaraderie. Yes, it was a typical July day in Santee. The temperature was right where we expected it to be, but surprise, surprise, we were blessed with a slight, cool breeze for the duration. There were five tables entirely in the shade .
As usual, there was plenty to eat and everybody was generous enough to share favorite picnic dishes. We started off with our normal PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE and then, much to my surprise, Jan Gail broke out with a rousing rendition of SHE'S A GRAND OLD FLAG. It was a stunning moment. I would not be surprised if PETCO PARK calls her soon. FABULOUS JOB, JAN!
We then settled into a TRIVIA CONTEST, table against table. It was a 50 question AMERICANA themed QUEST. ( Do you know which is the longest river in the United States?) Well, nobody else did either! As it turns out, We all know about the same amount of facts about our homeland.
We had plenty of ice water and cold drinks to keep everybody hydrated. We ate, we drank and had a great time sharing the day with our fellow WOW friends.
Now we look forward to the Annual Luau at the Bali Hai. See you all on August 13th where we will dine and dance the afternoon away on the ever lovely bay. Get your reservations in plan on a fabulous time shared with your friends.
AN EVENT WITH THE WOW GROUP
I recently joinedthe organization called WOW. I attended one of the recent events. It was at Gaetano’s Italian Restaurant. There were about 35 members who attended and even though there was only one waitress to tend to all of us I have to praise her for doing such an excellent job. The waitress brought the drinks and food out very quickly. I ordered eggplant parmesan and it was very good. My partner was not happy with his lunch. He ordered a sausage dinner. All in all the service was very good and most attendees were very happy with their meals. Even though the place is small they had arranged the tables well. We had a large table in the center and we were able to easily converse.
I just want to say that the organization does a wonderful job of creating and planning terrific functionsfor everyone. I have met many wonderful people and it is a wonderful source of entertainment as well as camaraderie.
